AUSANGATE TREK PERU 6 days / 5 nights:



Early morning departure from Cusco tour (6:30 a.m.) and go for the Cusco – Puerto Maldonado highway toward Tinqui (4000 m). On the way we passed the village of Urcos, where you can visit a beautiful lake, and continue along Cattca a town dedicated to agriculture and livestock. Also pass through Ocongate, the capital district, and only half an hour away up to Tinqui, a village in the high plateau, east of Cusco where we started our hike. We follow a wide path and climb gently to the northwest side of the mountain Auzangate. We passed fields and scattered villages, and later in the day we begin to see llamas and alpacas. After breakfast today we will go to our first step, we take three hours to get to step Arapa 4757 meters. Today is a beautiful day to wake up and enjoy a beautiful view of the Nevado de Ausangate. Then leave the camp and climb steadily to 4850 m Apachata Pass. We walk down to the lake Ausangatecocha formed by the glacier. From the lake begin to climb the slopes of Nevado de Ausangate to reach the highest point of this trek, passing Palomani 5200 meters. From the slope of this mountain there are extensive views of the peaks of the Cordillera Vilcanota. Descend for a couple of hours to the valley and continue so until the next camp near the remote village of Pampacancha 4500 m.


We continue to Qámpamayo River Gorge to the small village of stone houses in Qampa 4650 m. Towards Qampa the valley opens and the most spectacular peak of Nevado Tres Picos, Qinsapunta three mountain peaksof 6093 meters. Jampa we continue to rise, then the trail begins to climb steeply to our highest point of the camp near lakes Lagunas Ticllacocha 4800 m.


Then after breakfast and have stayed around the lagoons Ticllacocha comezaremos up for 2 hours to the last step of Qampa 4950 meters. Which is surrounded by huge glaciers, mountains and glacial lakes. We went down to the village of Pacchanta 4250 meters. We camped near the puebloado and we can enjoy the hot springs here.
